My husband really annoys me sometimes.
I'm sure I'm not the only woman out there whose husband or boyfriend just gets under their skin. Did my significant other forget to take the trash out? Did he not fill the car with gas? Did he forget to pay the AMEX bill? No. He did something worst. He said:
"a bar of soap."
What?
Wait.. did I miss something? Well, you did, you missed the question.
My husband and I have separate bathrooms, I do the shopping and buy the shampoo and conditioner, soap, his shaving gel, and things like that. I hand them to him and never see them again because I don't use his bathroom and he doesn't use mine. (He got sick of knocking down all the little bottles in the shower).
My husband was showing me a rough patch he had on his leg, I told him next time he was in the shower he should exfoliate. He looked at me as if I said "next time you are in the shower bake a cake". So I asked him:
"um.. babe what do you use in the shower?"
"a bar of soap."
Annoyance was bound to happen. Especially since he goes overboard on taking care of his hair. What about your skin man!? I have a million skincare products, soaps, scrubs, creams, exfoliating gloves, luffas, and every other type of device known to man. I always offer products to my husband but he is too "manly" to take any girly advice. My husband said most men don't use that stuff, and I thought - the hell they don't. Then he said the only smart thing he could say in response.
"why don't you ask your readers on your blog."
You know what Mr.Orange2LA that is exactly what I am going to do.
Ladies I am reaching out to you and asking- what does your husband/boyfriend use to take care of his skin?
Have you influenced your significant other to change their shower routine?
Let's discuss the crazy men in our lives, leave your comments in the comment section below.

Ha! My boyfriend runs away if he hears the word "moisturiser". He doesn't look after his skin OR his hair
Haha. Well if it helps, my ex used to use shower-gel with a loofah, face wash and sometimes a face scrub too.
My brother uses the same.
My bf uses a shower gel and a loofah.
He also uses a lotion on his arms and he also puts the same lotion on his face :s
If you tell him that there are face washes and moisturizers he pretends I'm talking to the neighbor...
Haha, sounds like my boyfriend a few years ago. Although he was resistant, I have gotten him to venture into the "girly." But there is nothing girly about being clean, exfoliated, and moisturized- it really should be a standard for all people. Now he uses shower gel and a loofah, and has a simple but efficient skincare routine.
My boyfriend doesn't cleanse his face or anything but he has a really nice complexion... genetics... I'm jealous >.> But he suffers from horrible blackheads and he lets me try everything from masks to nose strips on his nose ^^ Oh, and when his face is dry, he applies body lotion to his face.... I freaked out when I saw him do that but it doesn't break him out -_- He really doesn't care about what he uses in the shower either but I know he prefers liquid soap as opposed to bar soap.
My guy friend does a lot to his skin, pretty much a whole skincare routine! He also does masks and wears concealer sometimes :) He asks me for product recommendations all the time and he's also straight. But all in all, most of my guy friends know zilch about their skin and don't care to know more.
@Kirsty, Hahah why are our boys so silly?
@Natalie, 2 boys who have a routine, very good!
@Anon, My husband uses the same lotion on his face that he uses on his arms, it freaks me out! LOL.
@Krystal, I couldn't have said it better myself- It should be a standard. I wonder if I can get a loofa into his shower...
@AngelicBetrayal, My husband uses the same lotion for his face that he uses for his body, why do they do that?!?! I'm always telling him not to do that and that they make separate creams for the face. But he doesn't listen to me. Glad to hear he is not the onnly one, hahaha.
LOL hahah tell MrOrange2LA he should use what you recommend him to use! Mine uses whatever I purchase and put in the shower, albeit they're not girly shower gels. Dove body wash is a good one for dry skin. I even got him hooked on La Mer.
My husband never really took care of his skin until he had a bad break out on his cheeks.. Now he's always asking me about exfoliator! I bought the DDF rotating cleanser and he uses that now. He refuses to use moisturiser though!
I some how convinced the boyfriend to spend money some skincare. But I don't live with him so I don't know how often he actually uses the skincare. I'm going to venture that he doesn't. He probably just says he does to please me lol.
my boy used to use hand wash on his face. i watched him reach his hand out of the shower once, reach out next to the sink and pump some into his hand and wash his face with it. i freaked, went out and bought him a bar of dove soap and told him to use that.
He looked at me as if I said "next time you are in the shower bake a cake". - Hahaha!
My boyfriend is actually extremely picky. He exfoliates, moisturises like no-ones business (more than me, I hate putting too much moisturiser all over) & even uses a toner! He like a lot of Clinique items, so when he's feeling rich, he'll buy them, & when he's not, I direct him to the Neutrogena section.
It's odd, because he's a classic 'alpha male,' but thinks nothing of drifting around the skincare aisle, which makes his friends laugh. I like that he likes to take care of himself!
I have to beg him just to put SPF on - it really frustrates me!
hehe mine is bar soap guy!
Mine is a soap bar guy too... and he sure is thorough with it! When he gets out of the shower, the whole upstairs floor smells like Irish Spring! haha!!
He will seriously take the time to squeegee the shower doors and spray scrubbing bubbles at the end of every shower, but he doesn't bother using conditioner on his hair, or lotion on his skin or anything like that!
The bar of Dove in your post is so fitting! That and shampoo are the extent of his "personal care". If he starts getting some dry skin he'll put some of the kids body lotion from the pump on his face. UGH!!! I told him I wanted to get him some skincare, especially SPF moisturizer but he said he won't use anything (and I know he means it). I told him maybe I don't want to be married to a wrinkly old man one day!!!
This post was very funny and entertaining. Luckily, I've turned my hubby onto Kiehl's and he uses that without complaint. After almost ten years of marriage I am still trying to get him to use eye cream (fuhgetaboutit).
urgh my man uses body shower gel from head to toe, as a shampoo and also as a face wash @@ he dont believe in pimple cream too, when one pops up on his purrfect face..he said 'let it be, it will go away' arghhh
xoxo elle
My loved one is addicted to Olay and Nivea. He refuses to use Men's products, believing them to be a marketing rip-off. Dutifully wears SPF. Uses Dove soap ONLY on his body. Uses proper shampoo and conditioner (kerastase this week).
HOWEVER, he does expect me to give him freebie products with my Boots points and 3 for 2 Boots sale offers - like free eye cream!!
Hahahah that's too funny. My boyfriend uses Dr. Bronner's with a loofah in his shower...he keeps buying eye creams and scrubs and whatnot, claiming he'll "take better care of himself" but I ended up usurping them because they just sit in his medicine cabinet for ages. He has a weakness for bar/liquid/shower soaps though, so he uses them up REALLY quickly and switches them up all the time. Men.
my boyfriend uses a lufah(sp?) in the shower for dry skin and any skincare samples I gift him for his face(he is blessed with awesome skin despite doing nothing for it)
Lmao, I love this post so much. I love spoiling my H, I bought him Shiseido shampoo+conditioner years ago and he was hooked. He has tons of backups of that. On his face he uses of Burt's Bees Peppermint & Rosemary (very moisturizing)and the matching body wash in the shower. We also have separate bathrooms but his is always stocked, I make sure of that!
My fiance uses cleanser and exfoliates his skin sometimes...and also sometimes uses my moisturiser :) but before he met me he wasn't useing anything
