What's In My Bag: Marc Jacobs

I have a confession. There is something in my life that I covet more than makeup, more than skincare, more than Joseph Gordon-Levitt. What is it you ask? Well it's handbags. I have quite a collection, some are hidden because my husband seriously freaks out anytime I bring another purse home, I usually wait a week and start using it and insist I have had "this purse forever, you just never noticed", he has yet to fall for that excuse, but I still try.

So today's What's In My Bag post is kind of fun. It's February and Valentines Day is right around the corner so I can finally bring out one of my favorite Marc Jacobs bags!

I bought this bag two years ago, Marc Jacobs had released a whole "Big Heart" collection, it included this bag, a Big Heart Satchel, a Big Heart Tote, and a Big Heart Clutch. They were available in red, purple, blue, silver, and nude. I bought this purse, and the Big Heart Tote in red, I later bought the Big Heart Clutch in purple. If anyone wants to see pictures of those let me know. At first I thought the purse would be too much, I mean it is loud, red, and covered in huge hearts. But it is definitely a statement bag and I have received more compliments than put downs on this bag.

Now onto all the stuff inside. Before you think I'm crazy let me say, I use to carry a lot more, I would pack my purse for a zombie apocalypse. I hate forgetting anything at home, and I hate not having everything I need with me. But I realized that I can't bring everything with me because that's a little scary.

  • Makeup Bag
  • Hair Brush
  • HandiBac Moisturizing Hand Lotion
  • Hearse Pouch
  • Wallet
  • Cellphone
  • Keys
  • Daily Planner
  • Fingerless Gloves
Everything here is pretty simple. Wallet, keys, cellphone, all necessities. The brush is small and perfect for quick fixes. My little hearse pouch is fun, I bought it from a seller on Etsy: simbiosisbyjulia, she is amazing and has the cutest little pouches. I currently have 5 of them that I change out depending on my mood, I've been using the hearse pouch since Halloween, and I just bought a robot one for my best friend to use as a makeup bag. Inside my pouch I carry business cards and any of those members cards for stores like the Sephora Beauty Insider card, Ulta, CVS, etc, it's perfect so I don't junk up my wallet. Those big bulky fingerless gloves are a must right now, even though I live in California it's been pretty cold in the mornings and my office is FREEZING sometimes so I can wear these and type at the same time, yes I look crazy, but at least I'm warm.

Now onto what I like to see in people's handbags. The makeup bag, doom doom doom!

  • MAC Viva Glam Cyndi Lipstick
  • Lanolips 101 Lip Ointment - Love this stuff!
  • PocketBac™ Deep Cleansing Hand Gel - Cucumber Melon
  • Paul & Joe Lipstick 064
  • Edward Bess Lipstick in Tender Love
  • Heatherette Powder - I took the beauty powder that came inside of it and replaced it with my MAC Mineralize Skinfinish powder.
  • Giorgio Armani Blush in 06
  • Embryolisse Lip Balm - You can never have too many lip balms
  • Etude House Rich Butter Hand Cream
  • Chanel Hydramax + Active Nutrition Lip Balm
  • Burberry Lip Gloss in Sepia -Favorite lip gloss
  • Bath & Bodyworks Spray in Pear Glace
  • Chanel Waterproof Eyeliner in Espresso - Any day look can be changed to a night look with a little eyeliner.
  • Lighter -A friend gave it to me to carry around for her in case she loses her lighter-
  • MAC Travel Size Brush
So what's in your bag?
Do you have handbags you only use at certain times?
What do you covet more than makeup?

I love the Marc Jacobs bag. That is so creative! You know, I actually have no makeup in my bag whatsoever. I've been meaning to put together a kit for touch ups but never got around to it. What do I covet more than makeup? Probably clothes/purses.

Hey, loved this post!! I usually carry a full makeup bag with me and yes I am guilty of carrying way too much junk in my bag!! :) I don't change my handbag that often but I do change the makeup bag!! :) I have a little collection of Paul and Joe makeup bags that I LOVE, I find their prints so pretty and elegant. I also like to keep an interesting mirror, right now I'm loving a Rouge Bunny Rouge black mirror!
Btw what do you think about the Embryolisse cream and lipbalm? Hope you like both!! I have been on the look out for an inexpensive face serum and I think I've found a good one: its The Body Shop Vitamin E serum, its very soothing and is only $20! I'm using a sample right now but will definitely purchase the full size this week. Hope all goes well with you! xx

OMG I love that bag!! It's sooooo cute!!! I don't know if I could get away with carrying it (idk, I get the feeling that I'm already so pigeonholed into "CUTE" with the way I naturally look that I try not to emphasize it further 'cause otherwise I'd end up looking like a caricature instead of stylish.. ;_;), but it's sooooo cute, I love it! It's definitely a statement bag and I can just imagine it looking amazing with elegant classic pieces like a beige or black trenchcoat!

& lol. I totally agree with you about lip balms. I think I have 4 in my bag right now too hahaha, my green tea balm, Sara Happ's Lip Slip, Jane Iredale's Sugar & Butter and Aquaphor.

Oh wow, that bag is so interestingly different! Definitely an eye catcher! I have got to review what I carry around -.- I carry around a truckload because I too find myself paranoid.

Experimenting with Marc Jacobs Handbags color and print is a great way to express your individuality. Even experimenting with handbag shape can help you make a statement.
