Well then call me a sucker, or a scrubber. I have struggled with dry lips and I'm the first to admit that I need help in the lip area. I worship lip balm the way some people worship breathing. Okay I guess I'm taking it a little too far, but I do love my lip balms and have quite a collection going now. I was cruising lip scrubs after I crashed and burned with the LUSH bon bon lip scrub, has anyone tried that particular one? The bon bon scrub completely dried out after only having it for one day, I had to throw it away. Winter takes a major toll on my lips and leaves them dry and flaky, I need to use a lip scrub to get my lips lipstick ready.
I found the lip scrub by Sara Happ on beautyhabit and decided I needed it right away. The lip scrub comes in 8 different flavors I have tried the Creme Brulee and the Brown Sugar:
- Creme Brulee
- Red Velvet
- Almond
- Brown Sugar* (I tried this one a year ago, the consistency was different, it was a thicker and a bit rough)
- Cinnamon Sugar
- Cocoa
- Peppermint
- Vanilla Bean
The lip scrub comes in a cute little chocolate brown box with a white ribbon. The jar is 30g/1oz. and retails for 24.00 USD. The jar is huge if you use it 2-3 times a week it should last you a very long time which makes the price not seem so expensive. If you use it more often like I do, well then you have issues and we should start a club, no seriously, I have used this almost everyday for a month and I still haven't put a dent in it.
The product is easy to use scoop a little out and rub along your lips, the hard part will be trying not to eat it. The consistency is a bit creamy with grains of sugar making it mild and not rough on your lips. The directions say to wipe the product away with a tissue but I find it easier to tissue it away if the tissue is damp, or just use your wash cloth. The lip scrub leaves my lips flake free, soft, and moisturized. I add a little lip slip* or any lip balm in my large collection and I'm ready to go. I use the lip scrub in the morning and at night. I really love this scrub and I have no idea how I lived without it so long. I have seen so many DIY recipes and ideas for lip scrubs but have never gotten around to actually making my own. I guess I'm one of those girls who will pay for convenience, it's okay to spoil yourself every now and then, right?
The winning combo!

oh my goodness. i am a huge lip balm fiend - not only do i get dry flaky lips once in a while (probably more often if i wasn't slathering on lip balm like every other minute ^^) but also my lips are very sensitive (can't wear many of awesome products, such as Chantecaille lip chics, Nars Gloss pencils). I've used Benefit lip scrub but did nothing. Maybe I should try Sara Happ's lip scrub. I've been meaning to try Leaf & Rusher's lip scrub. Have you tried it?
Thanks for your review.
@LlZ K, I also tried the Benefit lip srub years ago but it didn't do anything for me either. Sorry to hear your lips are so sensitive. What I should have mentioned in the review is that I also like that this lip scrub is mild, so I'm thinking it might work for you without hurting your sensitive lips. I recommend the Creme Brule flavor I like the consistency, I tried the Brown Sugar flavor one a year ago and I think the consistancy was a little different. Haha, crap I better edit this post and add that in. =)
I never heard of Leaf & Rusher, but I'm a crazy lip fiend so I'm going to have to check it out!
Oh this one looks yummy, the packaging is super pretty. I have tried LUSH BonBon Lipscrub and like you, it also completely dried out after only having it for one day. I didn't put water in it or anything so I was wondering what I did wrong, but I'm still using it anyway. I prefer to DIY my own scrub anyway with Vaseline and sugar (=
Oo! I think I'd like this lip scrub's consistency more than the Lush sweet lips lip scrub that I have. And I found that it didn't really do too much for my always chapped lips =( But it is a bit pricey for me. I wonder if the Victoria Secret one is similar..
@Gaby, I'm glad I'm not the only one whose LUSH BonBon dried up on. I still tried to use mine for a few days after but it was so difficult to use, so I tossed it.
@Mandy, I really love this scrubs consistency I think you'd like it too. I have been wanting to try the VS lip scrub ever since I saw Fuz review it, but I can't find one in the store and I thought when I looked it up online it said it was back ordered till May. Did you see that too?
Oh tell me about it! My Lush scrub totally dried out too. I literally have to scrape off the surface to get some to transfer to my lips. In the end it made a whole mess of my vanity. But $24 is just a little too pricey though! I wish they could be cheaper!
omg i loveeeee the lip slip <3 that jar lasts forever and is the best lip balm, EVER!
I haven't tried Lush bon bon lip scrub but I've tried bubblegum and it's pretty good, not drying at all!
@Tracy, Another person with the same LUSH scrub problem, glad I'm not the only one. I know 24 sounds a lot, but if it lasts you all year is it really too expensive? At least that's how I try and look at it.
@Jennifer, Yes I love lip slip! I can't believe I didn't already have it in my collection?
@DinaXYYan, I wonder if it's only the BonBon one because until now I haven't heard any complaints about LUSH Scrubs but it seems all us girls who got the BonBon one got a bad batch or something. Glad the bubblegum one is okay! =)
Hey Diane! I just bought the Lush sweet lips lip scrub in the chocolate flavor, I like it so far, it is drier than the consistency of the Sara Happ one from your pictures but it is quite good. The bubblegum flavor was too sweet for my liking so I picked up the chocolate one, and it helps that it is completely edible. In case you're interested Beautyhabit also has a range of lip scrubs by a brand called Clovertree, sounds really good, organic and all! Maybe I'll try the Sara Happ Red Velvet one sometime! I <3 red velvet cupcakes! mmmmm
