Burberry Sheer Eye Shadows & Light Glow Blush

Burberry is not just manufacturing clothing, fragrances, and fashion accessories anymore they have moved into the cosmetic world as well. Nordstroms has just recently launched Burberry's cosmetic collection. With websites all over posting swatches, pictures, and advertisements I was lemming products almost immediately. But once Nordstroms website actually posted the items for sale I started losing that craving for these items. I knew that for me to be sold on this new line I would have to see them in person.

I was lucky enough to find out that the Nordstroms South Coast Plaza near my house would be one of the lucky stores to actually carry the Burberry line. So yesterday I met up with Sabrina of The Beauty Look Book to check out the situation with Burberry. We spent quite awhile swatching EVERYTHING at the counters. I'm glad it was a Thursday and sort of slow so the counter was all ours and the sales associate was super nice and let us pretty much have a run of the place. The Burberry counter was huge!

I ended up coming home with quite a few products, this post will focus on the eye shadows and blush I purchased. At first glance I wasn't impressed with the eye shadows, I thought they looked... well boring for lack of a better word, they looked matte, and flat. I was instantly saddened, until I took my finger and swatched the shadow I had been eyeing Rosewood.  My mood changed completely I was shocked; first- the shadows were not sheer, contrary to how Burberry is marketing them. They are very pigmented! Even when I barely touched the shadows I got a full swatch out of it. The second thing I noticed was even though they looked matte once on skin each shadow had a iridescent sheen to them. Of course some of them were more iridescent than others. The darker the colors the more iridescent the sheen was, but even the neutral colors shined, but don't worry it's a classy understated sheen not that tranny type of iridescent sheen. I was really in love with these shadows. I ended up coming home with these colors:

The shadows retail at $29.00 USD, which isn't bad in my opinion, I think its worth it for the great color payoff plus the textures of the eye shadows are very silky smooth. Currently Nordstroms has 18 different colored eye shadows from the Burberry line, each color equally beautiful. I would have bought even more but I wanted to wait so I would have something to buy later. The packaging is ultra sleek and classy, the containers are sturdy and not cheaply made.

I also purchased a blush in No. 5 Blossom, a pretty peachy coral color. At first I thought when I saw Blossom I thought it was just a dupe of NARS Orgasm but once swatched it looked completely different. I really wanted the blush in Russet also but they had sold out of the color already. The blushes are also very pigmented and should be approached with a light hand when applying. The texture is smooth and silky and also have a sheen to them like the eye shadows.

Currently Nordstroms has 4 different blush colors listed on their website. The Burberry blushes retail at $42.00 USD. All of the products the blushes, eye shadows, lipsticks, and glosses have a fragrant smell to them. Both Sabrina and I could not put our fingers on what the smell was, it's not too strong but you can smell it, so if you don't like your cosmetics to have smells you might now like these. The sales associate says most of the Burberry cosmetics have SPF in them which may be why they have a fragrance to them. I also picked up a few lipsticks and a lipgloss, I will be posting pictures of them in my next entry.

Great post! You, Sabrina, and Amy are doing a wonderful job reporting on Burbury's cosmetic launch. The photos have been great as have the swatches and descriptions. At first, I wasn't very impressed particularly with the promo picture. The models are pretty, but bland. But, after reading several great posts, I ordered a couple items which should be arriving next week. Now, I can hardly wait to try them.

@Kristie You're welcome! I think the 45 min drive is worth it to see the items in person. I was much more impressed once I saw the items in person.

@Eileen I felt the same exact way you do. I was excited about the launch but when I saw the promo pictures I was put off a little. The promo photos and ad's are very bleh. That's why I was so impressed when I finally some the products in person.

@Stephanie Lipstick post will be up in a few days. =) Thank you!

I'm NC15 and love the Rosewood eyeshadow, it's the jewel in my collection, I'm very tempted by Porcelain but it looks a little peachy in the swatches so might wash me out. Amazing pictures by the way, this was really good for shade reference :)
